Couples Retreat is an upcoming 2009 comedy film directed by Peter Billingsley and written by Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn and Dana Fox. Vaughn and Favreau also star in the film. The cast also includes Faizon Love, Jason Bateman, Kristin Davis, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman and Kali Hawk. A. R. Rahman, winner of two Oscars at the 81st Academy Awards, is scoring the music for this film.(source)

A comedy centered around four couples Dave and Ronnie (Vince Vaughn and Malin Akerman), Shane and Trudy (Faizon Love and Kali Hawk), Jason and Cynthia (Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell), and Joey and Lucy (Jon Favreau and Kristin Davis) who go on their vacation to a tropical-island resort (Bora-Bora). While one of the couples is there to work on the marriage, the others fail to realize that participation in the resort’s therapy sessions is not optional. (source)

The Damned United is a 2009 British sports drama film directed by Tom Hooper and adapted by Peter Morgan from David Peace’s bestselling novel The Damned Utd, a largely fictional book based on the author’s interpretation of Brian Clough’s tenure as manager of Leeds United. It was produced by BBC Films and Left Bank Pictures, with additional funding from Screen Yorkshire and Columbia Pictures. Sony Pictures Entertainment distributes the film. The film was originally proposed by Stephen Frears, but he pulled out of the project in November 2007. Tom Hooper took his place and film was shot from May to July 2008. It was released in the United Kingdom on 27 March 2009.

An Education (2009) is a British coming-of-age drama film based on an autobiographical memoir of the same title written by the British journalist Lynn Barber. The film was directed by Lone Scherfig, with screenplay written by Nick Hornby, and features an ensemble cast including Academy Award winner Emma Thompson, Peter Sarsgaard, Dominic Cooper, headed by Carey Mulligan.

The film premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, gaining critical acclaim.^[1]The film was featured at the Telluride By the Sea Film Festival in Portsmouth New Hampshire on September 19, 2009. The film will next be shown on October 9, 2009 at the Mill Valley Film Festival and go into theatrical release in the U.S. on October 16.

Good Hair

Good Hair is Chris Rock’s upcoming comedy documentary premiering on October 9, 2009. The movie focuses on African Americans and seeks to explore some of the aspects of African American hair. According to Chris Rock, he was prompted to make the movie after his 5-year old daughter, Lola, asked him, “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” During his quest for knowledge, Chris Rock delves into the $9 billion black hair industry, and visits such places as beauty salons, barbershops, conventions, scientific laboratories (to learn the science behind chemical relaxers that straighten hair), and India, where many of the hair weaves worn by African American women are from. Chris Rock explains that the movie retains a sense of seriousness, yet at the same time remains humorous. The movie features celebrities like Ice-T, Nia Long, Paul Mooney, Raven-Symone, Maya Angelou, KRS-One, Salt-n-Pepa, Eve, Reverend Al Sharpton, Meagan Good, and Kerry Washington, as they talk about some of their own experiences with their hair, and how black hair is perceived in the black community.

St Trinian’s, called St. Trinian’s School For Bad Girls in the U.S., is the sixth in a long-running series of films based on the works of cartoonist Ronald Searle. The first four films form a series, starting with The Belles of St Trinian’s in 1954, with sequels in 1957, 1960, 1966 and 1980.

The 2007 release, coming 27 years after the last entry, and 53 years after the first film, is a rebooting of the franchise, rather than a direct sequel, with certain plot elements borrowed from the first movie.
